Discover Local Arts
One of the most popular destinations in Sarasota is the Ringling Estate, a 1926 home built to mimic the style of a Venetian Gothic Palace. When John Ringling, the owner of the estate, died, he left the home and all of the artwork inside to the state of Florida. Today, it houses the Ringling Museum of Art and the historic Asolo Theater.
Did you know that there’s a style of architecture named after our very own Sarasota? Called Sarasota Modern, the style features floor-to-ceiling windows, sharp lines, and giant sliding glass doors. Stop by the Sarasota School of Architecture to explore how Sarasota has made a name for itself in the world of architecture.
Other opportunities to explore local art in the area include the Sarasota Museum of Modern Art, Longboat Key Center for the Arts, Englewood Art Center, and Venice’s Clyde Butcher Art Gallery & Studio.
