Ca’ d’Zan
Tucked into the heart of the Ringling Museum, the Ca’ d’Zan is a destination of its own. Also known as “The House of John,” this Venetian Gothic residence was the winter home of circus owner, developer, and art collector John Ringling and his wife Mable. Today, you can explore this home and learn more about the $15 million dollar renovation that brought it back to its former glory.
Majestic furnishings, stunning arches, and towering windows await at this luxurious estate, which can even be rented for weddings and private events. Be sure to buy an additional ticket if you’re looking to tour the Ca’ d’Zan during your trip to the Ringling—it’s worth the splurge!
Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium
Sarasota’s costal location makes it a hub for aquatic life. If you want to learn more about our ocean’s flora and fauna, the Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium is the place to be.
Aside from viewing their top-rated exhibits, visitors can also attend a wide variety of exciting events. Some top favorites are their Bay Walk & Talk, the Mote Kayak Tour, and Coffee with a Scientist. Want to give back to the community? Visitors can even sign up to join the aquarium’s team of 1,400 volunteers!
The Sarasota Opera House
The Sarasota Opera House is a local icon, and their winter season is now in full swing. Come check out the latest shows and broaden your cultural horizons—there really is something for everyone! Some of February’s top shows include Romeo and Juliet, La Bohème, and The Elixir of Love.
If your child is feeling a little bored this winter, they might just love the Sarasota Youth Opera. This one-of-a-kind opportunity allows Sarasota’s younger residents to experience opera from behind the curtain. They might even get a chance to perform during a show, too!
